The reason which made me staying in Australia one more year without coming back in France first is that I booked to sing the Messiah on december on a choral of about 500 people. After having seen the performance Carmina Burana in August I made some research and found that they were looking for 500 more chorists to sing as a mass choir. I talked about it with my friends and all told me to do it! So I did and instead of going back to France and loose my return ticket I've been to Thailand using the half of it and which was less expensive then to go back here in Australia.

So only bakc in Australia on the november 12th, I started the rehearsals. At the beginning once a week in the city not far from where I live. Then we had a big one with all the 500 chorists in a big school North of Sydney. And in December we started the rehearsals at the Opera House every 2 days.

I wasn't realizing at all what I was doing. It's only at the last concert (4 in total) that I did, because my house mates and some friends came to see me and Cathy told me : 'That's so great! Do you realize???' She was so excited, she's never seen a classical concert before, never been to the Opera House... And I'm happy that she loved it! It was defenetly great to have my friends with me the last concert.

So there was the Sydney Philharmonia Choir, the Mass choir (us), the Sydney Orchestra and the solists. Our conductor Brett Weymark was absolutly great (he was the conductor for most of the music of the movie Happy Feet, hehe), really funny and making us working a lot as well.

Anyway I really great experience. I'm sorry I haven't yet lot of pics but I work on it.

La raison qui m'a fait rester en Australie une annee de plus sans revenir en France un peu comme je l'avais prevu est que je me suis inscrite pour participer et chanter dans un choeur de 500 choristes la Messiah de Handel. Apres avoir vu Carmina Burana a l'opera house en aout, j'ai fait mes petites recherches et vu qu'ils cherchaient 500 personnes pour y participer sans aucune audition. J'en ai parle a mon entourage, ne sachant pas trop quoi faire et j'ai fonce. Alors au lieu de rentrer en France et payer une fortune pour revenir en Australie a temps pour les premieres repetitions, et pour ne pas perdre completement mon billet retour, je suis allee jusqu'a singapour avec Virginie comme vous avez pu le voir, et monter jusque en Thailande.

Le jour meme de mon retour a Sydney, ma premiere repetition avait lieu, en groupe d'une 150aine de personne pas loin de chez moi. Genial !!! Ca faisait une eternite que je n'avais pas chanter et je m'etais inscrite comme soprane... mais j'ai vite compris que ca n'etait plus pour moi et j'ai demander a passer en alto ou je me suis sentie bien plus a l'aise!!! C'etait vraiment genial, ca me manquait trop. Donc une fois par semaine pendant 3 semaines nous avons eu cette repetition en groupe.

Ensuite tout le choeur s'est rassemble dans une grande ecole au nord de Sydney et nous avons enfin repete avec notre chef Brett Weymark qui a entre autre ete chef pour la musique du film Happy Feet (je ne savais pas). C'etait vraiment tres drole, et en meme temps on a bien bosse.

Puis on a enchaine les repetitions carrement a l'opera tous les 2 jours jusqu'aux concerts. Donc tous les 2 jours j'allais avec mes petites pattes a l'opera pour repeter dans une des 2 plus grande salles, sans vraiment realiser. Ca n'est que lors du derniers concerts (4 au total) ou mes colocs et amis sont venus me voir que j'ai vraiment realiser car Cathy etait surexcitee et me disait 'mais quand meme Melanie tu te rends compte que tu chantes a l'opera de sydney???'... Euuuuuh. Elle n'avait jamais vu aucun concert classique et elle a adore, les autres aussi et je me suis enfin trouve des gens avec qui aller voir des operas et d'autres concerts l'annee prochaine.

Bref ! Super !!!!!! Aucun regrets !
